Agricultural Support Services Company is an Iranian Governmental company and under the subsidiary of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad. The company, according to its legal obligations is responsible for procurement, production and distribution of agricultural inputs in Iran.
The main tasks and objectives of the company are, planning and taking necessary measures in order to supply, importation, distribution, transportation, of chemical and bio-organic fertilizers, pesticides and seeds from domestic and international suppliers to Iranian farmers.
There is hardly any access to a well-documented history of the company in respect of the use of agricultural inputs, but in early 1921, there seemed some activity regarding the function of pesticides carried out in Iran, producing Arsenic compounds. Around 60 years later, a company named Chemical Enterprise was established, engaging the manufacturing of some kinds of chemical fertilizers. In 1967, Fertilizer Distribution Company formed and merged with Chemical Enterprise and joined up by the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1992, ASSC (Agricultural Support Services Company) was formed for the purpose of providing, producing, distributing, importing and exporting all kinds of Agricultural Fertilizers, Pesticides, Seeds and Machinery in Iran through long-term commercial cooperation, obtaining representative, transferring technology, research cooperation with major international companies, engaging mainly in the area of global agricultural inputs trade and distribution.
The company's turnover was around US$ 2bn in 2013, and the volume of commercial operations in respect of providing and distributing agricultural inputs has been 4 million tons.
In view of its activity volume, turnover, and brand, ASSC will be eager to cooperate with main active international companies in form of obtaining representative, performing joint venture and consortium for trading and distributing agricultural inputs.
